Art Type Work Made by China CNC Router from Nick Sokolov in Australia

Nick Sokolov is a professor in a Lab in Australia. He uses OMNI4040 CNC Router to make some art type work. The material he uses are acrylic, plastic, wood etc.

That art type work is for his air vehicle mold. He uses mini cnc router OMNI4040 to cut the acrylic. The control system he uses is MACH3.

China CNC Router Basics-1

How it works

China CNC wood router works almost the same as any other CNC machine. A CNC machine or a Computer Numerically Controlled system which uses computer software and CNC controller electronics to drive a mechanical system. Using this setup, it is possible to achieve far better accuracy and precision than a human operator.

A traditional China CNC router can move and cut in three directions which are usually referred to at the X, Y, and Z directions. The X-axis is usually the longest of the three running front to back.

The CNC controller and computer system work together as the “brain” for China cnc router machines, telling the motors and drive system which direction to move and how far. Of course the computer must be given a design.

Most designs start in a digital format such as a dxf drawing or some other similar format. The user would then use a CAM software package along with the CNC controller software provided. These types of software convert a 3D or 2D digital image into a tool path code such as G-code.

It is easily to be back engraved for acrylic by cnc wood router. Then you may could use needle to inject the painting. It is easily to inject the painting to acrylic, the difficulty is to clean the painting out of engraving part. Usually you can use knife or gasoline to clean it, then make prima paint. 
If the acrylic will not use primer paint, then can not use knife to clean.

The way of panting for back engraving on colorful acrylic
Using back painting way, painting the primer paint to the backside, then use the self-adhensive label to stick, then engrave it. When the engraving job is completed by cnc wood router, paint the gold painting again. When the paint is dry, clean the self-adhensive label. This way could protect primer and gold paint very well.

Many cnc router users encounter this problem when engrave stone by cnc router. For tomb stone or other stone plate, why some position just touched by cnc router cutter, well some positions on stone are deeper engraved by cnc rotuer? This is related with the cnc router finding a blancing point on stone.
Before dispatching cnc wood router, manufacturers of cnc router will make working table even by cnc router milling cutter,so this is not the problem of cnc router table. Well, tomb stone or other stone must not so even, so if we make tool setting at left point, which is the highest point. This will cause some other position may can not be engraved. If this point is the lowest one, then may other position wil be keeper.
For avoding this problem, we suggest setting processing origin xy and z seperately. Still set xy at left down point of material, well, make z at the center of material, in this way, the whole engraving depth may is similar. If there is a big difference for different position material thickness, OMNI suggest make cnc router tool path to upper down two parts or upper, middle and down three parts. Or you use cnc router to measure the four edge point of material, according to X axis value to see which position is high, and which position is lower, then make some stuff under the material to keep the whole material even at most.

Problem of CNC Wood Router are mainly as following:
1. One axis of cnc wood router does not move. Now check the driver for this axis if work normal. The checking way: replace the driver on this axis with another axis, then to see if the other axis can work after mounted on replaced driver of cnc wood router. This way can confirm if there is problem with driver.
2. If the axis can move after replaced another driver, and the other axis can not move, then it indicates that the other driver is with problem.If the axis still does not move, then it indicates that wire or motor are with problem. Now, please check if air plugs are connected very well with control cabinet, check if control cabinet power is on. Please check if cnc wood router cable wire is connected very well with motion control card in PC and control cabinet.If all checking result are no problem, then please contact OMNI for getting further support.
3. Spindle can not rotate. Please check inverter LED screen value, and let us know, OMNI engieer will guide you how to fix this on cnc wood router.

Spindle Choose for CNC Wood Router
Spindle is the important part for cnc wood router. The spindle quality effect processing speed and accuracy directly. So it is rather important that choosing high quality spindle on cnc wood router. 
1. If you value processing efficiency, requires high speed and big engagement of cutting edge, such as solid wood etc, you need spindle power equal or bigger than 3kw. 
2. CNC wood router requires spindlw with high accuracy bearing. If it is not, then the spindle will be over heating after long time high speed rotation, then the lifttime will be shortened. OMNI use high quality spindle with high accuracy bearing in spindle, and also offer LED screen for spindle of cnc wood router temprature measure. And it could show you the spindle temprature obviously, tell you may spindle need rest if it works rather long time.
3. Check cnc wood router rotating sound if normal at different speed.
4. Check if spindle radial direction is forced. This is for checking if could cut hard material at high speed. Some spindles only can cut hard material at lower speed, if adjust to high speed, spindle may lost rotate, after using for some period, may lost accracy or even broken.

Stone CNC Router Set Multi-Layer Engraving

How to set multi-layer in cnc stone router software? Stone is a kind of hard material, so when we set tool-down size, should notice make multi-layer while processing thick relief sculpture. 
Firstly, in the software, we create and edit the file, set the relief sculpture size and depth. Here depth means relief sculpture depth. After setting, pre-view the relief sculpture with 3D view. Then set tool path, choose relief sculpture, then choose cutter, please notice that there is under cutting distance, this value is the size of cutting down size every time. This value is setted according to material hardness and cutter quality. Choose the item of multi z layer milling. At last Z tool path, input the total depth of relief sculpture. Then choose tool path simulation to see who tool path works. Then input the tool path to cnc stone router control system to start processing.
